Dental x-rays are an area of frustration for many hospitals. At times the challenge makes you question the need. So we turn to YouTube videos and countless CE courses designed to finally teach us how to capture good x-rays. Sometimes this works – during the CE course. Maybe for a few times afterwards, then it’s back to unusable shots and a lot of frustration.
In our hospital we paid for a talented Tech to come on site and train one of our team members. It didn’t work well and that team member moved to Arizona. We were back to square one. Being a fan of geometry (it goes with the rocket science education) I set my sights on designing a tool that would work the first time, and every time it was used no matter how many weeks it’s been since the last time you needed dental x-rays.
In a few days I had it! I was so excited bringing this new invention to the hospital for my Doc. Well, it didn’t go as planned. My design work using 3D tools and heavy math background had produced something great for all those other math geeks like myself. About 12 weeks later with a lot of input from my Doc and our team we have a white tooth shaped component to represent the tooth plane. The bisecting angle is represented by a blue ring shaped component to match your tube head. Both elements rotate smoothly and hold their position while you align the shot. It works, it really works! Hospital tested and developed this patent pending product is ready for your hospital.
